Fragments / End of the year pt. 2

Fragments of the places I've been this year. I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to live in and travel to such wonderful cities this year.

1. & 2. The snow leaning heavily on branches in our garden

3. A beautiful tree out front which yellow flowers only bloom during Winter
4. A green forest in Filothei
5. Beautiful cat bathing in sunlight
6. View of the Akropolis
7. View of Athens taken from the Akropolis

8. View from the temple of Aphaia
9. A beach in Aigina

10. & 11. The wonderous view and light of Delphi

12. An amazing tree on a pathway to some beach. It looks like it's about to fall over

13. What we see when walking home from the beach on Mykonos
14. What we see when eating at one of our favorite family run tavernas on Mykonos
15. & 16. Greek island beauty at its best

17. The pure water of a beach in Pilion. You have to drive the craziest, tiniest, wildest roads to get there. Quiet scary getting there, but so peaceful and serene actually being there

18. & 19. Photographs from a mountain trip we took in August. Needs no explaining. Too breathtaking!

20. A typical building in Dublin.

21. I should probably remember what this is, but I don't. There were too many buildings to capture in Prague. Beautiful city.

1. Boudin's Fishermen at Low Tide / I dream of a life by the sea, the sound of the water covering the sand, drawing back and forth, the smell of salt, the sun diving into the water every afternoon.
2. Floor plants in nice homes, both in dark and lighter green / greens bringing new life to any room
3. Hair tied in loose knots at Marni / hair knots one wishes were made by mistake in the morning

Casual elegance / Theyskens' Theory

theyksens1jpg theyskens2 theyskens3

THEYKENS' THEORY PRE-FALL 2013 / What a collection this is. I think the success of this collection is due to two things:
1) each piece of clothing and accessory looks great on its own 2) all the pieces work with each other in the most simple and elegant way - this collection is the definition of casual elegance. Just look at the fabrics, the textures, the colors, the shapes, the cuts - it all goes together seamlessly.

I would wear and love every single piece. If I could afford it I would acquire everything from Theysken's Theory, but especially this particular collection. Olivier has done it again!

Unintentional art / distortion

unintentionalart1 unintentionalart2 unintentionalart3 unintentional-sko

These pictures came about unintentionally. They are actually distortions of me in the last picture, and are a result of some scaling gone wrong. Or scaling gone right, one could say. At least I can say that I liked the unintentional result so much that I had to make something out of it. And to think that this whole thing began with me wanting to show my new velvety Miu Miu-inspired shoes. Though that didn't turn out as I planned (again). Note to self: get a tri-pod.

Yay. I'm so happy I finally have these heels. Though they're not the original (I wish), they come pretty close. Oh, and the crop tee and trousers are both American Apparel.

Details / The Giant Mechanical Man

These stills are from the opening scene of the film The Giant Mechanical Man with Jenna Fischer and Chris Messina. The details tell you so much even before we are introduced to one face.

I really liked this film, and recommend that you put it on your Christmas watch list if you already haven't. It's the kind of film that surprises you with all the small details. So good.

Favorite / Acne Dulce

Ah. Using the self-timer on my camera reminded me of the good ol' days when I sporadically wrote blogs here and there. In this case I tried to capture my boots, but you see how that turned out, so I decided to write about my sweater instead (not that it turned out that great either).

This sweater. Oh man, this sweater. I went into flagship Acne store in Oslo some months ago, because I wanted to buy a pencil skirt (which I did). When trying on the skirt I grabbed a sweater I saw fitting, and who would know I wouldn't want to take it off after that. From that day the Acne Dulce Alpaca sweater became my favorite sweater, my go-to sweater, the only sweater I ever want to wear. It's so soft, so warm, so elegant and oh-so mine. Who else has a steady relationship with their sweater going?

Oh, by the way, happy birthday Selma!

Playlist / No. 1

I always find it a bit difficult to make playlists. Don't get me wrong, I make them all the time - it's just that more often than not my playlists tend not to have a theme. The songs aren't always what you would put in the same playlist as they change in mood and style. However, that's how I listen to music - the same songs can sometimes fit my sad and my happy moods - all at the same time. For this journal I've tried to narrow it down though - attempting to select the songs from those different playlists that would actually fit the same mood. For this first playlist I guess I wanted to put together music I would listen to while taking a bath, while cooking alone and maybe feeling a bit blue.

1. Gentle Threat / Chilly Gonzales
2. Counting / Autre Ne Veut
3. Smother / Daughter
4. Laura / Bat For Lashes
5. One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong / Gregory Alan Isakov
6. A Case Of You / Joni Mitchell
7. I Don't Care / Twin Shadow
8. Untitled 1 / Hype Willams

Listen to the playlist here.
